  2. Ancients I Version 2.0                   *              Troubleshooting & Info

  5. ANCIENTS requires:
  6.   * An IBM-compatible computer (286 recommended)
  7.   * VGA graphics capability
  8.   * Hard disk
  9.   * At least 640K of memory
  10.   * A mouse and mouse driver (MOUSE.SYS or MOUSE.EXE)
  11.  
  12. To start Ancients,  
  13.   1. Change to the drive it is installed to (C:)
  14.   2. Change to the directory the game installed to (CD\ANC1)
  15.   3. Type BEGIN and press the Enter key.
  16.  
  17. If you run into any problems when starting Ancients,  here are some
  18. suggestions:
  19.  
  20. 1. If the mouse cursor doesn't appear,  make sure you have a mouse driver
  21.    loaded properly!  Ancients is impossible to play without a mouse.
  22.  
  23.    To load your mouse driver,  see your computer and mouse manual.  This
  24.    usually requires a command in your CONFIG.SYS file that
  25.    says:  "DEVICE=C:\DOS\MOUSE.SYS" or something similar.
  26.  
  27.    NOTE:  Some mice may have an interface problem.  If you find that your 
  28.    mouse is not functioning properly, Journey Onward into the game (you can 
  29.    use the letter 'j').  Hit F5 for setup.  Follow instructions and toggle the
  30.    mouse sys.  Save your config, exit, and rerun the program.

  32. 2. Ancients requires at least 550K of available main (conventional)
  33.    memory.  If you don't have this much memory free,  please consult
  34.    your DOS manual for instructions on freeing up more memory.  Some
  35.    suggestions are:

  37.    * Create a boot disk and start your system clean.  This will prevent
  38.      TSR's and memory managers from being loaded and taking up
  39.      memory.
  40.  
  41.    * If you're using DOS 6,  reboot your computer and press F5 when the
  42.      message "Starting MS-DOS" appears,  then run Ancients.
  43.  
  44.    * Do not run Ancients from a menu program or from Windows.  Only run it
  45.      from the DOS prompt.
  46.  
  47. 3. Ancients is a fantasy role-playing adventure game,  and you'll need to
  48.    explore many lands and fight many monsters along the way.  If you're
  49.    ever stuck in a game,  please read the online help -- it provides plenty
  50.    of useful information and instructions to aid in your journey.

  52. Ancients I: The DeathWatch v2.0 is shareware.  Feel free to copy and
  53. give this program to your friends.
